Finding the Media Exposure That’s Right for You

By Eric Althoff

You’ve spent significant time and effort refining your message; now it’s time to get it out there. At Promova, we are both your brand ambassador as well as evangelist for your corporate communications in a professional, thorough, and effective way. At the end of the day—as well as the beginning and middle!—our goal is to drive exposure and grow your business!

Part of what we do is connect our clients with media to increase exposure, attract greater interest, and turn your ideas into actionable items. We also provide media training because the effectiveness of interacting with the press (be it traditional or digital) is an art in and of itself. Often we assist with editing and ghostwriting.

Words are, of course, important in media, but so is the presentation. As a word guy myself, I sometimes lack the know-how to make a document or webpage really pop visually (I can’t draw to save my life). But thankfully I have amazing coworkers at Promova who are here to create those stunning images to go along with your words. Because we are constantly bombarded with media, it’s crucial to grab the consumer’s attention—and keep it. Promova’s talented team ensures that not only does the recipient recall the message but also the pleasant visuals that go along with it.

Let’s discuss three types of media exposure Promova offers and how each may be right—or not right—for your needs.

Guest columns

You surely have your finger on the pulse when it comes to salient topics in your industry, be it an upcoming piece of legislation, sustainability, or the importance of corporate synergy. Opinion articles—in newspapers or digital outlets—typically run between 500 and 1,000 words, and to stand out, the column should present a unique viewpoint and make a strong, relatable point as a takeaway. Several Promova staff members are veterans of opinion journalism and can help you refine the thesis you wish to impart.

And if you are having trouble getting the column started, or finished, take advantage of our ghostwriting services. Once a viable draft is ready, our media team will get your column in front of the eyes of our partners throughout the media industry.

Private interview with journalist

Perhaps you have an idea for an article but aren’t ready to put pen to paper (oh, did I just date myself?). Promova’s experts are adept at setting up interviews with seasoned journalists, who will talk to you in a pleasant atmosphere and take notes as you speak. Once completed, the journalist will craft it all into a viable article for publication—with you as the quoted expert!

Podcast interview

The goal used to be to get on TV—preferably the 6:00 p.m. news, when most people were watching. In our hybrid/digital world, however, the news cycle moves on sometimes in a few minutes—and the 21st century media landscape is extremely fragmented. Thought leaders can increasingly reach a dedicated audience by guesting on podcasts. Sure, there are literally thousands of podcasts out there, but Promova keeps a record of those that are specific to your business. We have consistently placed our clients for many podcast guest spots. Quite often they are invited back and continue to create content that serves their industry and drives people to them!

As a bonus, if you are shy, our media training guide doesn’t vanquish such introversion; rather, we help you to succeed in a public forum, such as an interview or podcast. Preparation is critical, and we’ve often found that even those who tend to lean more toward the shy side enjoy speaking to others about what they do, the expertise and knowledge they have, and how they solve problems.

Everyone is different in not only the amount of outlets they would like to reach, but the type of exposure and media they seek. Whether you’re a seasoned writer or a new one, a great public speaker or a wallflower, we are here to help. Promova’s aim is to ensure your comfortability, respect your valuable time and communicate your message as effectively and widely as possible.
